LANAI PROJECT UPDATE
Thank you to Susie Somers, Lee Miller, and Mike Vidinha for
keeping the Lanai project going despite some big challenges. At the July
Council meeting, the Committee was joined by Irwin Oyama, Graceleanor
Baird, Ruth Cassel, Margaret Kagawa, and Helen H-P. Pastor Olaf and Teri Sakai (Moderator) are ex-officios.
The Lanai Committee met on Sunday, August 23rd after church.
We focused on God's vision for the church's ministry and how the Lanai
will serve to make a "face space" for new visitors, a place where
newcomers would feel especially welcomed. The committee has also started a
forty-day prayer regimen pinpointing specific people and tasks. Please ask
the pastor for the prayer sheet if you would like to help in prayer. At the
next meeting, scheduled for Sunday, September 6th, after
worship, the committee is tasked with receiving a list of architects to
consider for the project.

Out of the mouths of
babes…From sermon notes taken by one of our youth on the
August 16th sermon: “God
is blessing your life. When you are
happy, you go into a room and the unhappy people change their mood and become
happy.” (Found in bulletin in Baird
Hall)

DESIGNATE IT TO “CLEANING FUND.”
VOLUNTEERS ARE STILL HELPING TO CLEAN IN THE IN-BETWEEN WEEKS, SO IF YOU
